GET YOUR RV READY FOR SPRING CAMPING SEASON

Get Your RV Ready for Spring Camping Season - Hilltop Camper and RV

With winter almost over, it is time to get your RV out of storage and plan your next big camping trip. However, you want to make sure your RV has not degraded since the last time you took it out. Here are essential RV parts to inspect when it comes to getting your RV ready for travel in the springtime.

TIRES

You should look at the tires to ensure there are no cracks. You will either need to patch them or get completely new tires. You also want to make sure the tire pressure is ideal. You know where the tire pressure should be at by reading the owner’s manual.

BATTERIES

You need to inspect your RV’s batteries a few times each year. You should wear protective gloves and safety glasses when you do this. You can clean corroded battery trays, connections, and terminals with baking soda and hot water. You will also want to test the battery before driving your RV.

EXTERIOR

Getting your RV ready for spring involves making sure you will not be inconvenienced by a little rain. Check the exterior to ensure there are no cracks around the doors, vents, and windows. A small hole can lead to extreme water damage within your vehicle.

WATER LINES AND PIPES

As you test the water pipes and lines, you want the faucet on. You will probably notice air escaping at first. You want to continue testing the pipes until you get a steady stream of water. You want to test it long enough to ensure all of the RV’s antifreeze is gone.

GENERATOR

You need to check the generator any time it has remained idle for an extended period of time. You will likely need to refill it with fuel. Prime the generator until the indicator light illuminates. Generators without a prime feature will need to be cranked. Once you know the generator runs, you should look at the oil level.
